Free health checks and advice are being offered to Sheffield residents as part of a health awareness day.
The event is to be held at St Mary’s Church and Conference Centre on Bramall Lane on October 16 and has been organised by city law firm Irwin Mitchell, which has teamed up with a number of health charities and organisations, including the Stroke Association, British Heart Foundation and Breast Cancer Care.
Free BMI checks, a diabetes test and blood pressure checks will be available.
Georgina Houston, a medical law expert at Irwin Mitchell’s Sheffield office, said: “We are delighted to be working with health organisations and charities to delivering this service to the community in Sheffield for the first time, offering those who attend the event the opportunity to receive free health checks and advice.
“We hope the health awareness day will offer the local community a chance to come along and learn more about a range of health issues.
“It can sometimes be difficult to come to terms with health problems and approach medical professionals for advice on general health and lifestyle. However, this informal event will provide people with the opportunity.”
